It is close to 2 a.m., in Canton, Ohio, United States, when a police officer named Ryan Davis receives a call to investigate a reported theft at a store.
Officer Davis, accompanied by his loyal friend and K9 partner, Jethro, rushed to the scene. Once they arrived at the dark warehouse, Jethro’s trained instincts immediately led him to pursue the perpetrator.
Bravely, Jethro jumped at the perpetrator and bit his hand, protecting his partner from getting hurt. However, the perpetrator retaliated with three shots that hit Jethro and left him paralyzed.
After apprehending the perpetrator, Officer Davis immediately took Jethro to the veterinary hospital for help. For 30 hours, Officer Davis never left Jethro’s side, hoping for a miraculous cure. Unfortunately, his life could not be saved.
Officer Davis had adopted Jethro when Jethro was just 8 months old. During their time on duty together, the pair had responded to more than 1,000 emergency calls and conducted investigations together.
Hundreds of officers and citizens gathered to pay their last respects to Jethro. The entire city felt deep sorrow for the loss of Jethro, and his sacrifice will always be remembered. Jethro’s legacy of bravery will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew his story.
