Heaven Smells Like Your Embrace: Why My Memory Isn’t of Fire or Fear
(Told from the point of view of a beloved pet)
Hello, Mom and Dad…
When my body could no longer run and my breath grew heavy, you were still there.
You didn’t let me go in the dark.
You didn’t leave me alone.
If heaven had a scent,
I believe it would smell like your embrace—warm, safe, and full of love.
I Didn’t Want My Last Memory to Be of Fire or Fear
Thank you for not choosing the rushed or easy way.
Thank you for not letting me burn.
Because if I had a choice, I wouldn’t want my final memory to be filled with smoke, heat, or fear.
You chose aquamation.
Soft water, a peaceful process, and a room filled with silent prayers.
You chose love, not flames.
I Returned to the Earth in a Beautiful Way
My body may no longer be here, but not a single part of me harmed the earth.
There was no smoke rising to the sky.
No trace polluting the ground.
Only clean, soft white ashes—proof that I was once deeply loved.
That Scent Still Lives in Your Home
Maybe you still smell the pillow where I used to sleep.
Maybe you keep my little blanket in a keepsake box.
My scent may slowly fade,
but the scent of your love will live on forever.
Thank You for Making This Goodbye a Blessing, Not a Trauma
If I could speak, I would say:
This farewell is not a wound.
It’s the last hug I’ll always remember.
And that hug… smells just like your never-ending love.
