From Client to Cremation Business Owner: Real Story of a Customer-Turned-Provider

From Pet Owner to Provider: A True Story of Becoming a Pet Cremation Service Professional

Behind every heartfelt business, there’s often a deeply personal story. That’s also true for me. After spending over 15 years in the pet industry—from pet food and grooming to boarding—I never imagined that the loss of my own beloved pet would become the biggest turning point in both my life and career.

This article is not just a promotion—it’s a true story of a grieving pet owner who later decided to become a professional provider of pet cremation services, especially bio-cremation or pet aquamation. I want to share both perspectives: as someone who once grieved, and now, someone who helps others say goodbye with dignity.

When I Was the Customer: A Loss That Changed Everything

Years ago, I lost my beloved dog, Chika, who had been by my side for 11 wonderful years. When she passed, I was at a complete loss.
Where should I take her remains?
Should I bury her myself? But where?
Or should I hand her over to a general cremation service whose process I didn’t fully trust?

The options at the time felt impersonal and even disturbing. I didn’t know if Chika would be handled with dignity. The doubt haunted me—and honestly, the experience felt traumatic.

From Grief to Purpose: Building a Pet Aquamation Service

That experience made me ask:
“If I, with all my experience in the pet industry, felt this helpless, how would the average person feel?”

I began researching bio-cremation, and discovered aquamation—a water-based, gentle, and eco-friendly method of pet body disposition using alkaline hydrolysis. I was impressed by how humane and sanitary the process was.

After months of research, training, and equipment investment, I founded a bio-cremation service with one mission:
“To transform the final farewell into a peaceful, respectful, and healing experience.”

Seeing Both Sides: As a Pet Parent and as a Provider

Having once been on the grieving side, I truly understand:

  • The need for respectful body pickup

  • The importance of transparent cremation processes

  • How sensitive and compassionate communication is crucial

  • The deep emotional value of a small memorial, like an urn or keepsake

Now, everything my team and I offer in the Greater Jakarta area is guided by one internal question:
“If this were my own pet, would I feel comforted and at peace?”
